Registration
How do I register for camp?
The quickest way to register is via our online registration system! You can also submit a completed registration form to the Texas Volleyball Camp. Registration forms can be sent via scan and email, mail, or fax. Registrations may not be taken over the phone. Click HERE to register.
What do I need to hold a spot?
You can hold your spot by registering online or submitting the registration form along with a non-refundable deposit of $150 per registered session.
What happens after I register?
Once we have received your registration and payment you will receive a confirmation email.
How soon should I receive confirmation of my enrollment?
Campers who register online will receive email confirmation immediately. If a paper registration form is submitted, you should receive confirmation emails once the registration form is processed. Please contact us if you do not receive a confirmation email.
Are there any other required fees I should know about?
The Texas Volleyball Camp charges a one-time fee of $10.00 per camper ($8.00 / serving camp) account with a credit card payment. This fee is used to cover credit card processing fees charged by our online registration company and credit card processing company.
Are there any other optional fees I should know about?
We offer two optional services for campers. The first is airport shuttle transportation and the other is an additional night stay between consecutive camp sessions.
- Airport Shuttle
For campers flying in/out of Austin, we will provide transportation to and from The University of Texas at Austin campus and Austin Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) for a fee of $30 one-way and $45 round-trip. - Overnight Stay Between Consecutive Camps
We offer an additional night stay of $110.00 per night for campers attending multiple, consecutive sessions. This fee covers the overnight stay and all meals between the camps.
When should I register?
We typically open our registration in January of the camp year. Our camps are filling up faster and faster each year. Registrations are processed on a first come, first serve basis. Register as soon as possible!
Do you keep a wait list once the camps are full?
Yes, we do keep a wait list. Wait lists are kept in case of cancellations. Once a camp session is full there will be an option to sign up for the wait list. If a cancellation occurs the first camper on the wait list will be contacted via email and phone.
Medical / Transportation Forms
Where do I get the medical / transportation forms?
The medical / transportation form packet is linked in confirmation email you receive at the time of registration. They are also available by clicking HERE.
How are the medical / transportation forms submitted?
This year the medical / transportation form packet can be filled out and submitted online via DocuSign. Once your forms are filled out and you click “Submit” they will be sent directly to us.
What happens if my camper does not have her medical / transportation forms turned in?
The Texas Volleyball Camp must have all medical / transportation forms on file before a camper can participate in camp, no exceptions. This is a University of Texas at Austin mandate, not just a camp policy. Please make a copy of the medical / transportation form packet prior to returning them and bring a copy of your medical forms to check-in to avoid any surprises of lost forms.
Dorms
Where will campers be housed?
This year the Texas Volleyball Camp will be housing campers and staff at the Jester West Dorm and the San Jacinto Dorm. These dorms are located on campus and are a great space for our camps. Our camps were housed here the past few years, and it was a welcomed upgrade from our previous facilities.
What will my camper need at the dorm?
A pillow, pillow case, bottom sheet, top sheet, and blanket will be provided by the dorm. If your camper would like to bring additional pillows, sheets, or a blanket, she is more than welcome to. Your camper will also need toiletries and towels.
What else should I send with my camper?
Campers sometimes bring appropriate games, cards, mp3 players, snacks and drinks to make their stay more comfortable. Each dorm room will have a mini refrigerator / microwave combo. Your camper should also bring an alarm clock. Also, send a small umbrella or poncho with your camper. Texas weather can change quickly – be prepared for rain!
Please remember that the Texas Volleyball Camp is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
What athletic gear should my camper bring?
Campers should bring:
- Volleyball clothes — comfortable shorts and T-shirts.
- Please do not wear spaghetti strap shirts or cut offs with large sleeve openings. Spandex will only be allowed at the gym so please bring shorts or pants to wear to and from the gym and in the dorm.
- Please do not wear anything advertising other collegiate schools—campers wearing clothing representing other colleges or universities will be asked to change.
- Playing shoes, socks and sandals. Please wear court shoes that are already broken in; new shoes may cause blisters.
- Knee pads
Will the rooms have phones?
No, the rooms will not have phones. Campers are allowed to bring cell phones; however, we recommend that they are only used in the camper’s room and not in the gym, the lobby or along the walk to / from the dorms and the gym. We would hate for a camper to misplace their phone, and trust us, it happens every year!
Please remember that the Texas Volleyball Camp is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
How do I contact my daughter while she is at camp?
You can contact the Texas Volleyball Camp via phone or email. Please see the Contact Us page for our camp contact information. Also, you can contact the Jester West front desk at (512) 471-3944. The front desk will give your message to the camp director.
If it is an emergency, the Jester West staff has Texas Volleyball Camp staff cell phone numbers and will call them immediately.
Will my child be supervised at the dorm?
Yes! Every camper is assigned to a dorm counselor. Texas Volleyball Camp Staff (camp directors, coaches, counselors, and dorm moms) are housed at Jester West. Campers are required to be in their room by 10:15pm. Our staff will do bed checks every night at 10:15pm. We are very serious about the safety of your daughter. Jester East also has its own security measures in place. The lobby desk is staffed 24 hours. The main doors require a key code after 10:00 PM and each floor requires a key code to access that floor.
What if I lose my room key or meal band?
Each camper is given a room key and meal card at registration. The cost to replace a lost key is set by the dorm. If a camper loses a key, the cost to replace is $75. A lost meal card will be replaced for free. If a camper loses either of these items, please notify the camp director or a dorm mom immediately. The fee to replace a lost key can be paid to the dorm directly. If the camper does not have the money to pay the fee, it will be billed to the parents.
What are the rooms like?
Each room will contain two twin beds. Each room will include a small refrigerator and microwave, a sink, and storage for clothing. The dorm has a community bathroom set up, with a bathroom located in close proximity to a cluster of rooms. Each bathroom will be accessed by a key code that will be unique to each camper’s room. Also, please note that female staff will have their own bathroom on each floor that is separate from the campers.
What about roommate requests?
All of the rooms are two person rooms. Please do not list more than one roommate request and no more than two suitemate requests. We will use suitemate requests to try and place groups of campers next to or near each other.
All requests must be complete; meaning both roommates and all four suitemates must request only each other. If this does not happen, then we cannot guarantee we will get roommates or suitemates together.
Rooming assignments are done 1-2 weeks prior to the start of the camp session. If your camper is attending as part of an odd number group (3 person roommate request), the camp reserves the right to add a fourth person who did not request a roommate. We will place two people in one room and the third person will take pot luck in a room that is close. Please register early so your session does not fill up and you ensure all requested parties get into camp.
What if a camper’s assigned roommate does not show up for camp?
After all campers have checked in, we will make every attempt to move your camper in to another room so that she will have a roommate. This can sometimes be difficult because our camps vary in age.
Parents
Can parents observe the training sessions?
Yes! Parents are welcome to come watch any training session. Parents are especially invited to come watch the last camp session and closing ceremonies. Please check with your daughter to see what facility she will be in.
Can parents come visit their daughter in the dorm?
Yes, but with some restrictions. Parents are allowed to come visit their daughter in the lobby of the dorm during the breaks between sessions. Parents are not allowed on the dorm floors, in camper’s rooms, or in the cafeteria. Check-In and Check-Out are the only times that the parents will be allowed to go into the rooms. We have found that parents coming to visit their daughters at the dorm during camp is one of the leading causes of homesickness. Camp is a time for your daughter to experience independence and have a great camp experience. We want your daughter to have a positive camp experience and our staff will be there to help if they need to.
Parking
Please see the maps page on our website for maps to all Volleyball camp related areas. Please obey all traffic and parking signs while on campus or at the dorm facility. These areas are closely monitored by UTPTS and by the City of Austin. Illegal parking will certainly result in a citation, fine, and possibly towing.
You can also visit the UT Parking and Transportation Services website for more parking information and additional parking options.
Sorry, but the Texas Volleyball Camp cannot provide assistance with appeals for tickets issued by the University of Texas or the City of Austin and will not pay for any citations received while at camp.
Where can I park at Jester West?
The best place to park while at Jester West is the Brazos parking garage, located just south of Jester West. The entrance to the garage is accessible from MLK Street. Please note that this is a pay garage and there is no free parking for camp.
What about parking on The University of Texas at Austin campus?
Parking for Gregory Gym and the Rec Center on the UT Campus requires a permit. The campus is closely monitored by UTPTS and parking on campus without a permit will result in a citation. Please read all signs. The easiest way to park on campus is by using a parking garage. Manor Garage is located closest to the Rec Center and the Brazos Garage is located closest to Gregory Gym.
Training / Schedule
Are the camps held in Austin?
Yes, all camps are held on the campus of The University of Texas at Austin. We use facilities on the UT Campus and surrounding areas.
Who are the Texas Longhorn Volleyball Camp coaches?
The University of Texas head coach Jerritt Elliott, associate head coach Tonya Johnson, and assistant coach Erik Sullivan set the curriculum for training, but the Texas Volleyball Camp also brings in college, club, and high school coaches from around the country.
Is there a day camp / commuter option?
Yes. Campers commuting to camp will have a different check‐in and check‐out process. Exact check‐in and check‐out times will be listed in the schedule for the camp you are registered for. Daily check‐in times are coordinated with the overnight campers arriving to the gym right after the commuter campers. Please be on time so that we can stay on schedule. If you anticipate any delays, please let the camp director know. Daily check‐out after the evening session ends are approximate, but should be very close. More information will be sent via email to registered campers prior to their session starting. A schedule for each session can be found on the camp description page for that session.
Please remember that commuter campers will receive the following meals: first day dinner, second day lunch, and second day dinner.
Where can I find a camp schedule?
Specific camp schedules can be found on the description page for each session or in the Information Packet. The Information Packet can be found on the Downloads page of our website. Please remember that these schedules are tentative and are subject to change.
What is the ratio of campers to coaches?
The Texas Volleyball camp tries to keep a camper to coach ration between 7:1 and 9:1.
